iPhone 15 Rumors: Camera

The camera system of the iPhone 15 is also anticipated to include two sensors. Speculations suggest that the iPhone 15 might feature the 48MP primary sensor seen in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, instead of the 12MP main sensor found in the base model iPhone 14.

The iPhone 14's cameras, suitable for everyday photography needs, remain largely the same as the iPhone 13's, except for the enhanced image processing capabilities. Therefore, it's encouraging to know that Apple plans to provide substantial improvements with the iPhone 15, giving regular iPhone users a compelling incentive to contemplate an upgrade this year.

The iPhone 14's dual-sensor rear camera configuration includes:

  • A 12MP primary lens (26mm, f/1.5)
  • A 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens (13mm, f/2.4)

However, this doesn't imply that the difference between the iPhone 15 and its Pro counterparts will be less distinct than the typical base model/Pro disparity. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are poised for significant camera enhancements in September, with either or both likely to incorporate periscope cameras and the largest camera sensors ever seen on an iPhone. The Pro Max model may even be equipped with a telephoto camera featuring a variable zoom lens.

Regarding the front-facing camera, the 12MP selfie camera featured in the iPhone 14 is anticipated to continue as part of the standard iPhone 15 setup.
